We love our mornings and afternoons when our preschool tamariki join us in the toddlers room 💛

These moments are so special, creating opportunities for our tamariki to build and strengthen tuakana–teina relationships. This concept is all about older or more experienced children (tuakana) supporting and guiding the younger or less experienced (teina). It’s a beautiful way for our children to learn from one another through play, conversation, and shared experiences.

We see our tuakana naturally stepping into leadership roles, showing kindness, patience, and responsibility, while our teina gain confidence, learn new skills, and feel a strong sense of belonging.

It’s such a special time of connection, learning, and aroha that truly reflects the strength of our centre whānau ✨

Messy play might look like chaos… but it’s actually where some of the best learning happens! 🎨🫧

In our toddler room, sensory and messy play experiences are a big part of our day. Whether it’s squishing, pouring, mixing, or exploring different textures, these moments are packed with benefits for our tamariki.

    Messy play supports:
✨ Fine motor development (little hands getting stronger!)
    ✨ Creativity and imagination
✨ Language development as children describe what they see and feel
    ✨ Problem-solving and curiosity
✨ Confidence as they explore freely and make their own choices

Our toddler tamariki had an absolute blast experimenting with baking soda and vinegar, creating their own little science reactions using pipettes! 🧪✨

There was plenty of colourful mess, lots of curiosity, and even more excitement as they watched their mixtures fizz and bubble. Learning through play at its best! 💛
