🌟✨ Happy Diwali from Puāwai! ✨🌟

    Kia ora e te whānau,

This year, Diwali — the beautiful Festival of Lights — fell on October 20th, and our tamariki in the Puāwai room celebrated in vibrant style! 🎆

Our celebration was filled with colour, creativity, and connection. Tamariki explored music, craft, and art activities, and we were delighted to welcome our whānau to join us for a special lunch. 💛

🌸 They created stunning rangoli patterns using flowers and coloured chalk.
🎨 They painted dazzling firework displays on black paper.
🪔 With Koka Helen, tamariki crafted their very own diya lamps to take home and share with their families.
🍬 Everyone also received small treat bags to enjoy and share!

Koutou mahi he tamariki tino ataahua — your creations were absolutely beautiful, children! 🌼

By celebrating Diwali together, we acknowledge and value the rich cultural heritage of our Indian whānau. These experiences help all our tamariki see the beauty in different cultures and learn about new ways of thinking, doing, and being.

    ✨ Happy Diwali, everyone! ✨

☀️ Exploring and Learning in the Sun ☀️

Our Pēpi in the Kākano room have been soaking up the sunshine and exploring through play! 🌞

Outdoor learning is one of our favourite ways to engage all the senses — feeling the soft texture of the sand, zooming around on the bikes with friends, and discovering how our bodies move in new ways. 🚲✨

Our older Pēpi showed their creativity by making robot arms 🤖 before joining their peers for some fun on the slide! These moments of joy and curiosity support growing confidence, coordination, and connection with others. 💛

Every day in Kākano is full of wonder, laughter, and discovery — all through the power of play. 🌿

✨ Exploring Magnets in Puāwai! 🧲
Our curious toddlers in Puāwai have been busy discovering how magnets work! They experimented with colourful magnets, placing them on the metal climbing frame and noticing what stuck and what didn’t.

Through this hands-on exploration, our tamariki are developing early science skills — observing cause and effect, testing their ideas, and making predictions. They’re also strengthening fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as they position and move the magnets around.

It’s amazing to see their concentration, excitement, and teamwork as they explore the magic of magnets together! 🌈
