    🌊 Kākano – Under 2’s | Limited Spaces for 2026! 🌼
Enrol now and join the fun!

Summer has arrived, and our Kākano pēpi have been soaking up the sunshine with some beautiful water play experiences! 💦☀️
In these photos, you’ll see our pēpi splashing, scooping and exploring water alongside their peers using buckets, tubes, bowls and floating balls. We even added a little blue food colouring and watched with excitement as the colour slowly spread through the water. ✨

These joyful moments are also rich opportunities for early learning:

✨ Sensory Exploration – feeling cool water on their hands and bodies, noticing temperature, movement and texture
✨ Scientific Thinking – observing how the water changes colour and how objects float, sink or move
✨ Fine & Gross Motor Skills – scooping, pouring, splashing and carrying buckets
✨ Cause and Effect – seeing what happens when they tip, pour or mix the water
✨ Social Connection – exploring alongside peers, building early relationships and shared joy
✨ Curiosity & Confidence – trying new tools, experimenting with movement and discovering their own capabilities

Kākano is a calm, nurturing environment where our youngest tamariki learn through hands-on, meaningful play every day.

🌼 We have limited spaces left in our Under 2’s room for 2026 — secure your spot today!
We’d love to welcome your whānau into our Kākano community. 💛

🍪 World Cookie Day in Kākano 🍪

Today our pēpi in Kākano celebrated World Cookie Day by decorating their own cookies with frosting and sprinkles — and they absolutely loved it!

As they spread the frosting, shook the sprinkles and carefully tasted their creations, they were developing so many important early learning skills:

✨ Fine motor skills – spreading, shaking and grasping the tools and sprinkles
✨ Sensory exploration – experiencing new textures, colours, smells and tastes
✨ Hand-eye coordination – carefully placing sprinkles onto their cookies
✨ Independence & confidence – making choices and having a go themselves
✨ Communication – using gestures, sounds and facial expressions to share their excitement
✨ Social learning – observing and interacting with their peers during the activity

Activities like this may look simple, but they are rich in learning and joy, helping to build foundational skills in a fun and meaningful way.

What a sweet way to explore creativity and learning together! 💛🌈

ELF IS BACK! Keep anImage attachment

In the Kauri ruma we have welcomed a new addition, TADPOLES! We have two and their names are toothless and stormfly. We are super excited to watch them grow and it comes at a great time as we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog. Once the tadpoles have turned into froglet's we will add some land to the tank so they can breath as they develop their lungs. Once they are frogs we will release them back into the wild. The tamariki have been helping to feed them and care for them. Having tadpoles in the class has sprarked lots of curiosity and questions and we are excited to learn more as we delve into the life of a frog! ... See MoreSee Less
