Kidz Kindy Tauranga
At Kidz Kindy Tauranga we provide an exciting, well balanced educational programme for children.
Our groups range from:
- Nursery – Kahurangi 0-18 months
- Toddlers – Paua 18 months – 3 years
- Pre school – Pukekeo 3-5/6 years
We understand that each child develops at their own pace, therefore, our teachers plan the work carefully to incorporate all the different levels and abilities into the programme.

Activities include:
- Focus activity – based on children’s interests, includes cutting skills, writing skills, stories, completing an activity
- Art activities – painting, screen-printing, collage, finger painting, messy play, cutting, sticking, glass painting
- Manipulative activities – playdough, clay
- Individual, large/small group activities
- Baking
- Mat times – stories, finger rhymes., counting, numbers, movement, music, instruments, listening skills
- Fine motor skill activities – constructing, sorting, forming symbols, art creative activities, writing etc.
- Gross motor skill activities – climbing, pedaling trikes, ball skills etc
- Imaginative play
- Water play, sand pit
- Early literacy skills – nursery rhymes, singing, retelling stories, identifying and writing their name, forming symbols
- Early mathematical skills – nursery rhymes, counting in sequence, counting at mat time, shapes and colours, understanding mathematical concepts
- Reading and listening to stories and enjoying stories

This weeks session down at The Gym group fitness room was a little different. Today we focused on hand eye co-ordination. Kaiako organised a bunch of different sized balls 🥎 balloons 🎈 and egg 🥚 and spoons 🥄 as well as targets. This was a fun way for tamariki to burn some energy and focus on a task in a large open space with all the wet weather we have been having! ☔️
Lest we forget
Over the past week we have been exploring ANZAC day and what this means to us in Aotearoa. Through arts, crafts and baking our tamariki have had the opportunity to be exposed to symbols associated with honouring and remembering the sacrifices made by the brave service men and women in World War 1.
Today in the toddler rūma we tried to make a slime waterfall. The intention was the coloured slime would trickle down the ramp mixing with the different colour slime at the bottom to create a new colour. Unfortunately our plan didn’t quite go right! A good little lesson on how to adapt and problem solve. We still had loads of fun with this sensory experience. 💗💙
Playdough is a perfect rainy day activity for our younger tamariki. Kaiako added an extra special peppermint scent today to add to the sensory experience. With so many tamariki wanting to join in on the activity Kaiako were able to role model awesome sharing of space and resources.
