Kidz Kindy @49 Weekly Newsletter 08/09/17
Kia Ora Kidz Kindy Whanau
Our dinosaur focused learning is coming to an end this week. Our children have become confident in naming and identifying dinosaurs, in particular, ankylosaurus, stegosaurus, triceratops and tyrannosaurus rex.
We have used dinosaur matching puzzles to identify same/different and to learn our colours
A new kid visited our centre this week. Not a human kid but a little white goat. Aaron’s family kindly brought their latest addition in to show us and the children were delighted to get up close, noticing his feet, ears and eyes and happily giving him a pat. This little goat’s father Sparky came to visit us two years ago so we callled him Sparky Junior.
Our art focus has included some awesome volcanos as the children blew dye through straws to recreate eruptions. They have also cut and pasted to make letter ‘d’ dinosaurs as well as cutting and decorating dinosaur undies after reading the story Dinosaurs Love Underpants.
Outside we have created more volcanic eruptions in our sandpit, began constructing with our Imaginz set and created obstacle courses to help us play The Ground is Lava.
This week we welcome Layla-Rose to Kidz Kindy. Haere Mai Layla, it is lovely to have you here.
If your child will be absent from Kidz Kindy please let us know by phoning the centre on 5788984.
Next week is Maori Language Week – Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - and this will inform our teaching for the remainder of September.
