Kidz Kindy @49 Weekly Newsletter 25/08
Kia Ora Kidz Kindy Whanau
Our fortnightly focus is to learn about dinosaurs. We are learning the names of some dinosaurs, (compsognathus is a tricky one to say!) and learning what they looked like. We have made some ferocious dinosaurs using our footprints then drawing teeth and eyes with pens. We have tried using our toy dinosaurs feet to make dino track art.
We have learnt that people have found dinosaur bones (fossils) and put the fossils together to recreate dinosaur skeletons. This inspired us to use salt dough to create our own fossils then glue them together with our cool shot glue guns.
Please check the lost property box.
Please send a named sun hat if the weather looks clear (I know, I know, it IS still winter but some of our days have been hot and sunny lately).
We have used dinosaur cards to practise matching and patterning.
Outside our tamariki have created their own obstacle courses to crawl, walk, jump or bounce over and across. The carpentry table has been busy with fishing rods being nailed together and wool attached for fishing lines.
Our mandarin tree has produced a great crop this year and our families are welcome to take some home. At present we have a basket of mandarins at the front door which we are happy to share.
This week we say goodbye to Maddy as she leaves us to begin an exciting new phase of her life at school. Hei te wā tītoki Maddy.
