Kidz Kindy @49 Weekly Newsletter 01/09/17

Kia Ora Kidz Kindy Whanau

It is now officially spring! (Yeah, right) and we have finished winter with a showery, cloudy week. We have tried to spend part of each day outside between showers, enjoying the sun when it did shine.

Our focus this week has continued to be on dinosaurs and the children have enjoyed role playing dinosaur games. We have used this theme to focus on our fine motor stapling skills, negotiation and friendship, listening, turn-taking and observation skills. Activities supporting this were making dinosaur hats and headbands, drawing and painting dinosaurs, positioning and glueing shape dinosaurs, solving puzzles, using drippers to thaw frozen dinosaur eggs, making dino handprint fathers day art and listening to stories about dinosaurs.

A dinosaur cave has been a popular play space outside as have our planks, tyres, swings, slide and bikes. In the sand pit we made an amazing volcanos (dinosaur environment) as well as harvesting and eating a brocolli head from our garden.

We are happy to welcome a wonderful new support worker to our team Amy B. Amy will be with us four mornings a week. Our lovely Mel will now be working at Kidz Kindy @ 75, joining the teaching team there.

Check out our attachments ‘Activity is Awesome’ (www.myfamily.kiwi/activities) and Creative Calcium intake from the website www.fuelled4life.org.nz.

Nits are a perenial problem for children, please check your children regularly and treat before returning to kindy.

Please also check bags for small puzzle pieces or toys that our little ‘squirrels’ like to hide.

Arohanui to all our dads out there. Enjoy your lie-in and breakfast in bed on Sunday ;-)

Ngā Mihi from your kaiako team this week, Cynny, Amy, Rose, Cathy, Meeri, Mel and relievers Serina and Jean.
