This last fortnight has seen us focus on flight. We have learnt about flying creatures this week with our art work based on well loved books. On Monday we read Michelle Osment’s book Perky the Pukeko. We noticed the pukeko’s beautiful blue plumage, long red legs and big red beak then we painted pukeko pictures.
On Tuesday, we read Owl babies by Martin Waddell then we painted our own owl babies with balloons and brushes. Later we practised spatial awareness by making collage owls. On Wednesday, we made some paper plate flying dragons. On Thursday, we noticed a beautiful rainbow in the sky so we learnt about rainbows that day. We need to have sunlight and water in the sky to make a rainbow – a sunny day and a rainy day at the same time.
Other activities in our busy week have included baking hokey pokey biscuits, a yoga session, playing memory games and dancing.
We are sadly bidding good bye to our student teacher Kelly. She has brought some lovely creative ideas to our curriculum and been an absolute gem. We all wish you well on your teaching career Kelly.
