Kidz Kindy @49 Weekly Newsletter 28th July
Kia Ora Kidz Kindy Whanau
We have been busy with our continued focus on fairy tales this week by listening to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Activities that supported this focus were: sorting items into large, medium and small, painting bear masks, comparing hard and soft items and making and tasting porridge. The week concluded with the children bringing their own teddies along for a teddy bears picnic. It was delightful hearing the children talk about their teddies.
Our big muscles were worked by learning to cross the sand pit on ropes, riding bikes, or crossing the planks on the obstacle course.
We have expressed ourselves through art by screen printing, pasting and cutting ribbons, water colours, brush and sponge painting, and drawing with pens, crayons and pencils and white board pens.
Our student teacher Kelly has supported the children with a wonderful new sensory experience – FLUBBER. We have also enjoyed magnetic darts, parachute games, shaker songs and crawling races.
We appreciate the support you give us by encouraging the children to remove their shoes inside as well as removing your own shoes. As our children play on the floor a lot, this helps to keep their play area clean and healthy. If you can send your child in gumboots or crocs for outside play this makes taking shoes off and on even easier.
Unfortunately, we have had a case of nits notified to us. Please take some time this weekend to check your child’s hair for these little beasties, and treat before your child returns if you find any. We are happy to provide advice or information if you would like it.
From your teaching team this week,
Cynny, Amy, Cathy, Meeri and Mel.
