Weekly Newsletter 14th July
Kia Ora Whanau
Last week the children had noticed the winter sun streaming across our carpet in the mornings. This interest in winter light was our area of focus this week within our winter study.
Our children practised cutting by making rainclouds, and using drippers to make PVA glue suncatchers. They also used paper plates to decorate as woolly winter beanies.
We read Jack and the Beanstalk then popped bean seeds into snaplock bags on wet paper towels to see if we could grow a giant beanstalk. Check out our windows to see if they are sprouting.
Our mirror blocks were fascinating as we caught light in our mirrors and reflected it onto the walls (inside) and the fences and trees outside.
We finished the week with lovely warm lemon and honey drinks (with lemons from our tree) and a yoga session in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, quite a few of our families are falling ill with coughs and colds or (in some cases) vomiting and diarrhoea. Please keep your child home from Kindy if they are ill, 48 hours from the last event in the case of vomiting and diarrhoea in order to speed their recovery and prevent the spread of illness to others.
Next week we will begin learning about fairy tales.
